Our crews are ready to respond to outages as soon as it is safe to do so, but here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • This storm system will affect multiple states. Any assistance requested from other EMCs will not come until they finish restoring power for their own members.
  • If you rely on life-saving equipment, please have a backup plan in place and do not call 911 to report your outage.
  • Please use the Automated Outage Line, 1-855-293-1804, mobile app or online portal to report power outages. Please be patient, but remember that we can see that your meter will automatically report your outage to our system.
  • Make sure your phones and devices are charged and that you have multiple ways to get weather alerts overnight.
  • Secure any loose items outside, have plenty of batteries and flashlights on hand, and have prescription medications together in a “go” bag.

This is one of those “pray for the best but prepare for the worst” situations, so we urge you to identify the safest spot in your house in the event of a tornado and plan ahead for power outages.

Stay safe, Colquitt EMC!
