FFA Wiring

Each year Colquitt EMC, along with EMCs across Georgia, sponsors the FFA Agricultural Electrification Career Development Event (CDE). The Georgia FFA Association and EMCs in Georgia have offered this educational initiative for more than four decades, introducing agriculture students to electrification programs while teaching safe, efficient use of electricity.

Six area CDEs are held statewide and the top two winners from each area advance to the state competition. In both the area and state competitions, contest participants complete a written exam, a practical wiring problem testing their knowledge of the National Electric Code, and an oral presentation on steps to complete a specific electrical task.

Caleb Smith of Colquitt County High FFA won 1st place in 2023 Area 5 Agricultural Electrification Career Development Event, and competed in the state competition.

Levi Hunter from CA Gray Jr. High won 2nd place in the 2023 Area 5 Agricultural Electrification Career Development Event, and competed in the state compeition.
