Tropical Storm Isaias has Strengthened into Hurricane

Posted on

Tropical Storm Isaias has strengthened into a hurricane and is expected to make landfall along the Florida Panhandle early Saturday morning. The primary threats to our area are heavy rainfall, localized flooding, and the possibility of isolated tornadoes from Friday evening through Saturday.

Our service area has already received several inches of rain this week. Additional rain and potentially strong winds, combined with saturated soil, could bring down trees and utility poles. As we shared yesterday, now is the time to prepare for possible power outages. Members who depend on electricity for medical needs should make backup arrangements now.

Colquitt EMC is on standby and ready to respond to any impacts from Isaias, and we urge all members to take the necessary precautions. We will continue to monitor the storm closely, particularly for any eastward shift that could increase its impact on our system. Please continue to follow Colquitt EMC for updates.
