My fellow members,
We are on Day 7 of our Hurricane Helene Power Outage Restoration Effort. I want to begin this update by thanking our membership for your continued support as we navigate this power outage together. We understand how difficult it is to be without electricity. Now more than ever, we rely on electricity in almost every facet of our daily lives. We understand the toll this is taking on you. Many Colquitt EMC employees are still without power to their homes as well. We have seen your resilience and your patience, and I want to commend and thank you for it. Hurricane Helene dealt a massive blow to our region, but we will get through this together.
As you may have noticed, our Valdosta, Adel, Nashville, and Quitman offices are currently closed for business. When Colquitt EMC mobilizes for a large outage event, our employees’ daily jobs change to aid in outage restoration. For example, many of our customer service representatives are helping deliver food to our personnel working out in the field or helping in our dispatch department. When we are in storm mode, it is all hands on deck. By closing the offices, we have more help available to aid in outage restoration. While it is inconvenient to not be able to visit your local Colquitt EMC office, our phone lines are open, and we are available to take your phone calls. Our Moultrie and Tifton Offices are also open for business if you wish to visit one of those locations.
Our crews continue to work diligently. As of this update, we have approximately 26,300 meters without power. Crews will continue working 16-hour shifts until service is restored to all. As of this morning, we have added 200 more personnel to aid in this restoration effort and will continue to add more personnel as resources become available. Thank you again for your patience and prayers as we work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
Sincerely,
Danny Nichols
President/CEO
