Winter Storm Update

A Message from our President/CEO

January 22, 2025 – 12:15 PM

My fellow members,

I would like to provide an update on the recent winter storm and its effects on Colquitt EMC. As we monitored the forecasts leading up to the storm, there were significant variations in predictions regarding its impact, particularly around the location and severity of icing, freezing rain, and sleet.

I am pleased to report that, for the most part, our system experienced only snow with minimal icing or sleet. As of 6:00 AM this morning, Colquitt EMC had approximately 90 meters without service, which, considering the circumstances, is excellent news for our system. It appears that the most significant impact of the storm was felt to the south and east of our service area.

We continue to monitor weather forecasts and stay in close communication with government and local officials to plan accordingly. Given the anticipated melting of snow today, followed by refreezing overnight, we have decided to keep Colquitt EMC offices closed on Thursday, January 23. Several schools have already announced closures for tomorrow as well, including those located in our service area. Although our offices will be closed, our outside personnel will remain available to restore service in the event of outages.

As always, we appreciate the continued prayers of support for our personnel. We are grateful that our system weathered the storm as well as it did.

Sincerely,

Danny Nichols

President/CEO
